The Windy City All-Stars will be heading to Philadelphia June 25-27 to participate in the 4th annual East Coast Roller Derby Extravaganza, hosted by the Philly Roller Girls.

Founded in 2007, ECE is a large-scale women's flat track roller derby event featuring a weekend full of competition by teams from across the US and Canada. Two rinks feature full-length, regulation bouts between all-star teams of WFTDA member leagues. An additional rink will host half-hour challenge bouts with varying themes, ranging from leagues' established B-teams to Goths vs. Hipsters.

The WCR All-Stars have entered each year, most recently facing Cincinnati and Boston in 2009. This year they'll play the Gotham Girls All-Stars of New York on Friday at 7:30pm est and Philly's Liberty Belles on Saturday at 8:30pm est (that's 6:30 Fri and 7:30 Sat for all y'all in the central time zone). Both games will be broadcast live on Derby News Network.

Plus, several WCR skaters who aren't suiting up for All-Star duty (and maybe a few who are) will be entering challenge bouts. No word yet on whether DNN will be covering those as well, but stay tuned and we'll let you know.

The last time WCR faced Gotham was in the final game of the 2008 WFTDA Championship; and the last time they faced Philly was in a 1-point, down-to-the-last-jam thriller in July '09. Both of these games are sure to be exciting as all get-out. Viewing party, anyone?
