In addition to bout donations, WCR participates in various fund-raising events throughout the year. Here are a few of the major events in which our members have taken part:
Things My Beard Can Lift – Stats god Scorey Feldman collected donations for Off the Street Club , Chicago’s oldest boys’ and girls’ club. Since the league’s beginning, WCR has been dedicated to bettering our community through donations of goods, money, and services to local not-for-profit organizations. We strongly believe in supporting Chicago organizations that promote community health, empower people, and call attention to underrepresented populations. During our home season, donations were made to the following organizations:

This weekend, the WCR All-Stars take their show on the road to face Seattle's Rat City Roller Girls. This will be the team's first trip back to the Pacific Northwest since November's WFTDA Championship Tournament. This will be the second time these two teams have met-- the first time was at the tournament last fall, where Windy City handily dispatched of Rat City 157-63, en route to a second place finish.

The beneficiary of the Aug. 29 All-Star bout vs. Charm City will be Girls on the Run, a life-changing, experiential learning program for girls age eight to thirteen years old. The programs combine training for a 3.1 mile running event with self-esteem enhancing, uplifting workouts. The goals of the programs are to encourage positive emotional, social, mental, spiritual and physical development.

In a smashing home opener for the WCR All-Stars 2009 season, the All-Stars, previously undefeated at home, experienced their first loss of the season to the Philly Roller Girls Liberty Belles, 70-69. The one-point differential and low final score proves how closely matched and defense-heavy these two teams are.The heavy defense of both teams kept the score relatively low for the majority of the first half, but unfortunately for WCR fans, Philly’s excellent teamwork resulted in the overwhelming majority of lead jam statuses going to the visiting team.
