Bout 2 Recaps are up!
WCR’s lovable losers no more, the 2009 Manic Attackers nearly hit a intraleague milestone Friday night, coming close to breaking the 200-point mark against a Fury team. Eva Dead did her damndest, wearing the star in virtually every other jam in the first half. As the second half thundered to its inevitable conclusion, Manic jammers attempted to kick the Manics’ points tally over the next marker, but in the end, they had to enjoy a just-shy-of-legendary score. The board read 197-53. With their veterans looking as solid, and a rookie lineup showing exceptional promise, it’s no wonder the announcers were heard uttering the words “Ivy King Cup” throughout the night. Final score: Manic Attackers 197, The Fury 53 The Ivy King Cup rematch was a nail biter to the final seconds. From the start, the points crept ahead incrementally as both teams showed the blocking prowess that has made them powerhouses. The lead volleyed as blockers from both teams turned opposing jammers into human pinballs. The second to last jam seemed to cement the Belles victory as Megan Formor extended the Belles lead. With 1:21 to go, Shocka Conduit and Peg Legs took the jammer line. But wait! Megan was directed to the box for penalties sustained as a jammer Shocka vacated the line. Peg Legs’ inexhaustible speed carried her into the pack for three point runs. With that, the Belles’ long-winning streak was busted, and the audience went home exhausted but satisfied. Final score: Double Crossers 120, Hell’s Belles 116 Read the full recaps here:
