The connection between the Windy City Rollers and these independently strong women business owners proved solid with the fitting WBDC event theme of “Rolling into HERstory.” The guests at the conference were both surprised and thrilled to see the Windy City Rollers skate into the reception area to the tune of “Sisters Are Doing It For Themselves”. WCR also helped generate excitement by skating around and drawing attention to the bidders as the frenzy of activity culminated during the WBDC auction.

Windy City Rollers drew inspiration from this group of dynamic women while making new connections, and fans, during the evening’s festivities. We are proud to have been asked to participate in this remarkable gathering of incredible women.

The Women’s Business Development Center was created in 1986 and it is currently the leading and most successful women’s business support center in the U.S., assisting over 65,000 women business owners in the greater Chicago area.

On Saturday, October 1st , come experience State Street and the Loop in a new and unprecedented way with the Windy City Rollers! The Chicago Loop Alliance and Active Transportation Alliance present Open Streets on State Street, a free event promoting community culture in Chicago.

Following a Ciclovía (which means “bike path”) model, which emerged as a response to the congestion and pollution of city streets, Open Streets on State Street enables families to get out and enjoy healthy recreation in the streets that they call “home,” all in a safe public space on car-free streets.

The public is invited to enjoy an extraordinary opportunity to traverse one of Chicago’s historic streets. Bring your bikes, skates, strollers and sneakers to enjoy a seven-block stretch of State Street, from Lake to Van Buren, free of traffic and full of a variety of healthy and fun activities.

The Windy City Rollers will be there from 10am – 3pm. You have seen us hit the track with determination and hard hits; now is your chance to see us having fun and enjoying the benefits of camaraderie and fitness. Come and watch the Windy City Rollers as we participate in demonstrations and fun activities to help promote health, community and family in our spectacular city of Chicago.

This event is the culmination of Chicago Loop Alliance’s GO DO GOOD campaign, a summer-long, city-wide movement that has worked to inspire the public to “do good,” in tandem with artist Kay Rosen’s six-story GO DO GOOD mural on State Street.

“Open street” events have popped up across the world, and now these exciting events will be coming to Chicago! Don’t miss your chance to celebrate Chicago, and the Windy City Rollers, in an incredible way.
