It’s been another great year for the Windy City Rollers. We joined the circus, dressed up in red carpet attire, and, of course, played plenty of derby. Here are some of our favorite moments from 2015 both on and off the track.
Ivy King Cup Season Championship
The Windy City Rollers closed out the 2014-2015 home season early this year with the Ivy King Cup at the packed UIC Pavilion. The Double Crossers beat out the Manic Attackers for 3rd place in an incredible two-point game, winning 220-218. The Hell’s Belles finished ...

The Windy City Rollers All-Stars finished on the short end of a 169-143 score in a hard-fought and physical bout against the Dairyland Dolls of the Mad Rollin’ Dolls league from Madison, Wis. The two squads skated a triple-header finale in front of a Saturday night crowd at the Lombard Roller Rink.
This was the summer’s second meeting between the two squads. Windy City defeated Madison’s charter team 200-193 in a close matchup on May 16.
Windy City’s starting blockers were Mah-Ko, Legal Tenderizer, Kristina Rago and Hoosier Mama. Jan Trainor ...

The Windy City Rollers Third Coast overcame an early deficit for a convincing 258-111 win over the DuPage Derby Dames Onslaught at the Lombard Roller Rink Saturday night.
It was a big night for the Third Coast jamming corps, which featured strong play from Goldilock Stock’n Barrel, Shake N Bake, and Speeding Rainbow. The Windy City squad’s jammers consistently won lead-jammer status, and when DuPage jammers managed to get out ahead, they often found a Third Coast jammer gaining ground and forcing short and scoreless jams.
A-Ha Gabor opened the bout ...

Join us this Saturday, Aug. 22, at the Lombard Roller Rink (located at 201 W. 22nd St., Lombard, Ill.) as the Windy City Rollers continue their travel season. You won’t have to drive far to catch tons of skating action with three bouts taking place this evening!
First up, our future roller derby stars take the track, as two junior leagues (Second City Slaughter vs. Radioactive Rollers) showcase their skills and make it clear that even though they might be young, they can still tear it up on the track. Make ...

Tournament season officially begins today! The Windy City All-Stars will travel to Omaha, Neb., Oct. 2-4, 2015 for the WFTDA D1 Playoffs.
Your Windy City All-Stars finished the season ranked #20 overall and seeded #5 in the Omaha playoff, which earns them a first-round bye. In the second round, they will get a rematch against Montreal Roller Derby, ranked #16. WCR All-Stars went up against Montreal at East Coast Derby Extravaganza in June. Montreal came out victorious with a score of 303-97, but the bout was closer than the score might ...

It was history in the making last Saturday night at the Broadway Armory—three local leagues dueled it out against each other under one roof, and the excitement was certainly noticeable. The first bout of the night featured the Chicago Bruise Brothers vs. Windy City Rollers’ Second Wind, and while these two teams have skated alongside each other in the past, the players meant business when they took the track to face one another.
The Bruise Brothers took lead jammer status right at the first whistle, putting three points on the board, but ...

To say the bout between the Windy City Rollers All-Stars and the Outfit Syndicate this past Saturday was historic is perhaps an understatement. These two midwest roller derby powerhouses are regularly ranked in the top 40 of the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association -- and both of them call Chicago home. It’s a lot of roller derby for one city, but the city of big shoulders has enough love for both leagues. That was on full display at the Broadway Armory last Saturday night.
This bout was a long time coming, and ...

Although the Windy City Rollers Second Wind fought hard and started out the game on top of the Mad Rollin’ Dolls Dairyland Dolls B Team, Madison ultimately came out victorious on Saturday evening at our second bout of the travel season.

The first jam saw Hat Trixxxie for Second Wind taking on Blitz Siren for the Dairyland Dolls B Team. After a slow start, Trixxxie broke through the pack for lead jammer status, and successful recycling of Dairlyand Dolls jammer Blitz Siren by the Second Wind blockers allowed her to get ...

In the second game of the night at our travel season bout at Lombard Roller Rink this past Saturday, the Windy City Rollers All-Stars were looking for their first win this season. Pitted against the Mad Rollin’ Dolls A-team, the Dairyland Dolls All-Stars, the WCR All-Stars successfully took down our neighbors to the north in an excitingly close game.
The first two jams were low scoring, with Magic Missile getting 1 point for the Dairyland Dolls in jam 1 and Ms. Dr. Joseph L. Simonis 2 points for WCR in jam ...
