Interview with Amy Nonamey, WCR All-Stars
Following the WCR All-Stars' dominating performance at the Brawl of America, I talked with some of the team members about their experience.
Loco Chanel: You're the most recent addition to the WCR All-Star team-- you were added to the Charter in August. How has your first month and a half as an All-Star been?
Amy Nonamey: A combination of hard, stressful, overwhelming, but AMAZING. When I was invited to join the All-Stars, I was told that I wouldn't be eligible for rosters until Regionals-- and being on a team like ours I knew I'd have to bust my a$$ if I even wanted any kind of shot, so that’s what I did: practiced, practiced, practiced!
I've felt myself grow as a skater very quickly and plan to keep it up to benefit myself and teams.

Can you describe how it felt to have your first bout with the team be at the Regional tournament? And to get rostered for the Championship game?
OVERWHELMING!
It was a lot of pressure, I felt like I had a whole lot to prove to myself and I knew I couldn't let my team down. This is my rookie year and to be a part of such an awesome team as WCR, I felt like I had a standard to live up to. I definitely had my ups and downs, feeling like I wasn't doing well enough, like I wasn't fast enough-- lots of nervousness like that.

Getting rostered for Regionals was scary, but after that first whistle, I settled down and was like "OK, you can do this." After that, it was a ton of fun and seeing all of our hard work come together was very rewarding.
Getting rostered for the Championship game against Madison was just a bonus!
Last year you were at Regionals as a Skater Tot and this year you were there as an All-Star. What can you say to any of our new Rioters who have their eyes on playing nationally?
Get yourself ready for lots and lots (and lots!) of hard work, heart, and dedication. I came into the WCR being such a huge fan of our league, and I still am, which is why I've worked so hard to be able to contribute to our league's growth and success. You have to want it and have it in your sights, set goals for yourself-- little things that feel good when they get accomplished.
Trust your teammates and take their criticism because in the end we all want to help each other and we are all one league.

YAY No Namey!!!!
amy is a great addition to our team and it has helped us tremendously to have her come in and work so hard. her success has re-iterated that NONE of us can sit back and be happy with our last performance. there's a young whipper snapper just dying for her chance to put you on your butt.
i'm thankful she only gets that chance with me in practice!
Awwwww Malice!
