Tournament season comes to an end this weekend, and the Windy City Rollers want to share the excitement with you all weekend long!
The Windy City Roller All-Stars are heading to Colorado this weekend to participate in WFTDA's Championship tournament, Continental Divide & Conquer! Augmenting their already intense practice schedule, the All-Stars have been taking extra measures to prepare themselves for the altitude of the Denver area, including using weighted backpacks and apparatuses that make breathing more of a difficulty.
This week the Windy City Rollers showed off their moves for the Fox Chicago News team, weighed in on proper nutrition for today’s athlete with Medill Reports Chicago, and became Time Out Chicago’s and Huffington Post's new favorite team to cheer for and favorite bone-crushing weekend activity.
Starting the evening with a breakdance fight, the WCR All-Stars played host to the Tampa Tantrums at the UIC Pavilion on Saturday and sent them home with an incredibly lopsided win, beating them 196-42.
The Second Wind faced off against the Bleeding Heartland Rollergirls Flatliners on Saturday at the UIC Pavilion in what looked like a narrow loss but turned into an exciting come from behind win. Second Wind beat Bleeding Heartland by a final score of 92-87, a very small margin considering Bleeding Heartland played furiously and Second Wind was down their high-flying co-captain, Ska Face.

Founded in 1978, Child’s Play Touring Theatre (CPTT) works to motivate children to write and think creatively, giving them a place where their ideas can come to life through performances of stories and poems written by these young authors. CPTT combines the important, imaginative writings of children with the craftsmanship of professional theatre artists and educators to create a unique stage where children’s voices can be heard, examined and treasured.
This week, the Windy City Rollers raised their helmets with CBS Chicago to celebrate their 3rd consecutive win at the North Central Region Playoffs while they let their hair down for Andre’ Johnson’s documentary posted on Vimeo.
The Windy City Rollers battled their way out of the penalty box to secure the #1 seed in the North Central region and preserve an incredible 23-0 record. Minnesota took an early lead in the Regional final, but with some incredibly physical gameplay the Rollers struggled back to retake the lead.
The Windy City Rollers brought the game to Naptown Roller Girls in a nail-biter of a bout tonight, where it was anyone's guess as to who would be victorious and advance to claim a spot for tomorrow night's North Central Region Championship bout.
