Sassy Squash
"She'll stomp you dead in your tracks"
A former member of Maine's Sasquatch Genome Project, Sassy's burgeoning career as a cryptozoological geneticist was cut short by what some claimed was a freak accident in the lab, and others claimed as sabotage. One evening, as Sassy transferred a tray of tissue samples and syringes for extraction from cold storage to her work station, the power went out. The failure of the lab's auxiliary power and the absence of her colleagues left Sassy in a precarious situation. She steadied her hands as she carried the volatile mix of needles and Sasquatch parts, taking slow, shuffling steps to feel her way to a safer position.
Suddenly, the power-generators whirred and the auxiliary lights flickered on one-by-one. Her eyes adjusted to the renewed light and she scanned the room for her fellow scientists, when the last auxiliary light, directly above her head, exploded without warning. Sassy collapsed and balled up to protect herself from the glass and sparks raining down on her head and her skin, but lost grip of the tray of Sasquatch tissues. The petri dishes flew in the air and rained the mysterious DNA down onto her broken skin, causing a genetic mutation in Sassy from human to hybrid: The beauty and grace of woman combined with the might and stealth of the Sasquatch.
Knowing the naturally inquisitive tendencies of the scientific community, she knew she would likely be captured, or even killed, in her new state of being. Sassy fled and found solace in an underground cavern until she realized she wasn't alone in her new hideout. A group of female assassins, the Double Crossers, had also made the cavern their hideout. After a failed attempt to smite Sassy, in which she proved herself to be much too strong, the Double Crossers accepted her as one of their own and gave her the advanced training she would need to finesse her might. Today, Sassy's out for blood, whether it's revenge for a supposed "accident" in the lab or just to satisfy the beast in the beauty.
