Quick Recap: Second Wind Takes Plan B Back to the Drawing Board

Bouts, Events, Mini Recap, Recaps » Posted September 11th, 2011 by

The WCR Second Wind faced off against the Kansas City Roller Warriors Plan B on Saturday, bringing a ferocious point-scoring cavalcade and beating them 210-103 at the UIC Pavilion.  The night showed some faces not seen in a while for the Second Wind and some seen for the first time.

Dame Over and Dinah Party brought their blocking expertise to the Second Wind for the evening, while rookie Phoebe Fi Fo Fum added depth to the jammer pool.  High-flying captain, Ska Face, and the ever impressive Sunshine N Painbows, coupled with Hermione Danger and Tamikaze, were scoring at will against a completely rocked Kansas City B Team.

If there is anything to be said about the Second Wind’s ability to overcome, they came out in the first half acting like there was no loss last bout against Ohio. Both teams were reaching for blood, but after the Second Wind scored first there was no turning back before both teams went to the locker rooms for the half.

It was good to see Dame Over on the track, and it was great to see Rose Feratu jamming like an elite professional. There was excellent jamming from both benches and a wonderful showing by both teams defensively, given the score.  Plan B’s Black Ice was a jamming machine, but still couldn't get their team rallied to win.

Sunshine N Painbows was awarded Player of the Game for excellent jamming and blocking, helping the Second Wind to an overwhelming win.

The Second Wind faces off against the Detroit Derby Girls on Oct 22.
