The first of two afternoon playoff bouts on Mother’s Day kicked off at 3pm as the Double Crossers faced the undefeated Manic Attackers. Windy City All-Star veterans Hoosier Mama and Varla Vendetta joined the Crossers’ squad as guests in addition to Dame Over, Indycent, and co-captain Joanie Utah, all of whom made a return to the roster.
The night’s first bout profiled some interesting surprises with Public Enemy Number One, Val Capone suiting up as a Hell’s Belle and donning the number 89 saying, “If I’m not red, I’m dead.” With that, the Double Crossers had a big money line up of All-Stars including Hoosier Mama, Ol' Drrrty Go-Go, and Varla Vendetta. The Double Crossers won the bout with a score of 115-107 but forfeit the win because they were allowed to substitute All-Stars for their injured players. After a back and forth start the defending Ivy King Cup champions, The Fury tallied their first win of the season against the Double Crossers with a score of 139-70 at the UIC Pavilion Saturday night. Leaning on their rookies and transfer talent, The Fury managed a win brought on by pinpointed hitting and mass attack scoring. The Double Crossers were holding their own early on, but couldn’t pull the trigger for a win and fell further behind as the bout came to an end.

The Manic Attackers were ahead from the start. The speedy feet of Abbey, jamming against the determined Zoe “The Matrix” Trocious, wasn’t enough to secure lead jammer status due to a stalwart roadblock of electric blue and yellow. Zoe Trocious scored an easy 4 points by the end of jam 1 and the Double Crossers were left empty handed.

The Windy City Rollers held their annual Black and Blue Ball over the weekend, and some very special awards were handed out. A big congrats to all the award winners!

The Windy City Roller All-Stars took on the San Diego Wildfires on August 27th, 2011, at the UIC Pavilion, beating them unmercifully by a score of 255-22. For a bout with such a lopsided score, the San Diego team brought everything they had to the table and didn't go down without a fight.
