The Windy City Rollers held tryouts over the weekend for coveted spots on the WCR All-Stars and Second Wind rosters. The first home game for the travel teams will be on Saturday, March 22 at the UIC Pavilion. Be sure to see the new teams in action and congratulate all of the athletes who made it!

Saturday night the Windy City Rollers’ second home season date saw a rematch of last year’s two best teams, The Fury and the Manic Attackers. In the last three seasons, the two teams have battled it out against each other for the Ivy King Cup. However, for the first time in years, both the Manics and The Fury came into their second bout with a 0-1 win-loss record. Windy City’s Second Wind went down swinging in a transcontinental grudge-match against Toronto’s A-Team, losing 231-179 at the UIC Pavilion Saturday, March 30, 2013. Early on in the bout, both teams were vying for a win but the Second Wind just didn’t have enough gas in the tank to pull it off.

Friday night’s first bout on March 1, 2013, matched up the 2012 champion Manic Attackers against the Double Crossers, a team with a lot of new faces and new talent. The XX made their mark in January with determination and great teamwork, having closed out the preseason tournament with a sassy last minute victory against the Hell’s Belles. This weekend the Crossers showed their squad’s athleticism and growing potential, but they still had their hands full against the Ivy King Cup winners throughout the bout.
