The first of two afternoon playoff bouts on Mother’s Day kicked off at 3pm as the Double Crossers faced the undefeated Manic Attackers. Windy City All-Star veterans Hoosier Mama and Varla Vendetta joined the Crossers’ squad as guests in addition to Dame Over, Indycent, and co-captain Joanie Utah, all of whom made a return to the roster.
In a bout that saw the return of super stars Beth Amphetamine for the Manic Attackers and Ska Face for The Fury, the anticipation was high to get the bout under way. With these powerhouses back on the track, it could have been anybody’s bout, but the Manic Attackers mercilessly shut down The Fury with a final score of 138-60.
What can you expect, this season besides a lot of lead changes and flip-flopping on which team is going to win the Ivy King Cup? Here’s what some of the captains have to say for 2012.
With the first place seeding on the line, the Manic Attackers took the fight to the Hell’s Belles and claimed a first place victory winning 168-102 at the UIC Pavilion Saturday night. Both teams were frothing from the beginning, but the Manic Attackers had the gas to hold on until the end and sent the Hell’s Belles home with a loss. With both teams going into triple digits, there was no shortage of scoring, but the Manic Attackers defense is what was holding strong as the final whistle blew.

The Manic Attackers were ahead from the start. The speedy feet of Abbey, jamming against the determined Zoe “The Matrix” Trocious, wasn’t enough to secure lead jammer status due to a stalwart roadblock of electric blue and yellow. Zoe Trocious scored an easy 4 points by the end of jam 1 and the Double Crossers were left empty handed.

After barely getting a win out over the Hell’s Belles earlier in the evening, The Fury looked to hold their ground against the red hot Manic Attackers. Standing up against the Manic Attackers is a fight that will test the resolve of The Fury bench and show their rookies how tough the Manic Attackers can really be.
The Windy City Rollers held their annual Black and Blue Ball over the weekend, and some very special awards were handed out. A big congrats to all the award winners!
