Friday night’s first bout on March 1, 2013, matched up the 2012 champion Manic Attackers against the Double Crossers, a team with a lot of new faces and new talent. The XX made their mark in January with determination and great teamwork, having closed out the preseason tournament with a sassy last minute victory against the Hell’s Belles. This weekend the Crossers showed their squad’s athleticism and growing potential, but they still had their hands full against the Ivy King Cup winners throughout the bout.
This week, the Windy City Rollers fired up WBEZ with a walloping season opener, while Gapers Block previewed the home season and recapped the riveting rematch between The Fury and Manic Attackers.
On Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, the Windy City Rollers kicked off 2013 with their annual Round Robin Charity Bout, an evening in which each of the four league teams skated on behalf of a charity of their own choosing.
