WCR All-Stars take home the trophy-- WFTDA North Central Champions!

Bouts » Posted September 22nd, 2009 by

Last week, the WCR All-Stars, along with a legion of leaguemates and fans, travelled up to the Twin Cities to assert their regional dominance. This week, they returned-- job done.

The WCR All-Stars had three games at the Brawl of America and booked three big wins: first a quarterfinal against host Minnesota Rollergirls (155-25), second a semifinal against Cincinnati (163-36), and a championship win over Madison (150-56).

In a tournament full of close contests-- every other team had at least one game that was an under-20 point game, many decided in the last jam-- WCR seamlessly rose to the top and played like a machine, shutting down other team's star jammers and consistently breaking apart their opponents' defense. All 19 All-Stars who were able to make the trip up to St. Paul contributed to the tournament championship, as they all took the track in at least one of the three games.

The final standings from the tournament are as follows, with the top three teams advancing to Nationals:
#1 Windy City (first round bye)
#2
Mad Rollin' Dolls/ Madison (first round vs. Boston, East #3)
#3
Detroit (first round vs. Gotham, East #2)
#4 Cincinnati
#5 North Star/ Minnneapolis
#6 Arch Rival/ St. Louis
#7 Brew City/ Milwaukee
#8 Burning River/ Cleveland
#9 Minnesota/ St. Paul
#10 Grand Raggidy, Grand Rapids

What did not get mentioned is that WCR was also undefeated at all three after-parties....esp. the one with the mechanical bull... :)
