WCR All-Stars take on Rat City Roller Girls in Seattle this Saturday!

This weekend, the WCR All-Stars take their show on the road to face Seattle's Rat City Roller Girls. This will be the team's first trip back to the Pacific Northwest since November's WFTDA Championship Tournament. This will be the second time these two teams have met-- the first time was at the tournament last fall, where Windy City handily dispatched of Rat City 157-63, en route to a second place finish.

After that loss, Rat City seems to have taken a page out of Windy City's handbook (it's called "Training for Greatness") and scheduled an incredibly aggressive 2009 interleague season with lots of matches over 2008 Championship Tournament teams. They've already played 7 games this year and have a solid 4-3 record, with wins over Bay Area, Duke City, Detroit, and Carolina. Their only losses have come at the hands of regional rival Rose City, a last-jam nail-biter again Charm City, and Philly.

The WCR All-Stars have been comparably quiet this year, with 5 games to date. The only blemish on the team's 4-1 record is last month's heartbreaking one point loss to the Philly Rollergirl machine. Knowing how the WCR All-Stars only get better as the season gets going, and comparing relative margins against Philly about a month apart (-1 for WCR, -88 for Rat City), it's hard to not expect WCR to return with another "W" under their belts. However, fans should be warned against getting overconfident-- the Rat City All-Stars are a smart, fast, physical and experienced team-- and have the benefit of playing at home. This should be an intense and exciting bout!

The All-Stars' roster is a mix of the vets who played Rat City in November and 3 of the 2009 additions to the team:

Captains: Malice with Chains & Varla Vendetta
Athena DeCrime/ Blossom Bruiso/ Eva Dead/ Georgia on yer Behind/ Hoosier Mama/ Megan Formor/ Mo Vengeance/ Ruth Enasia/ Shocka Conduit/ Tori Adore/ Ying O'Fire/ Yvette Yourmaker
