While roller derby runs like a professional production among amateur sports, as few (if any) rollers get paid to skate, it occupies an interesting space in the same nest as action sports. Sure, roller derby won't bump the football out of Monday Night Football or eclipse the TV ratings of Wimbledon, yet.

College of Education staffer thrives in the rough-and-tumble world of Roller Derby

Molly Fannin is tough. Real tough. She’s so tough, in fact, that the Windy City Rollers, a Chicago Roller Derby league, named her Rookie of the Year in 2010 and signed her up for its 2011 all-star team, which is competing nationally throughout the summer. During the league’s regular season, Fannin is a “blocker” for the Manic Attackers.
